Springtime Common Sense Fashion

Once the sun starts to shine and winter weather is definitely a thing of the past, it’s easy to bring all of your spring clothes front and center. Be gone winter coat! Disappear heavy sweaters! But don’t jump the gun.  Wearing a bright, short spring dress when spring temperatures dip will not turn heads in appreciation, but in amazement—you will have committed a fashion sin. Even though the calendar says spring, wait to wear delicate spring things until the frosty air is gone. To prevent such fashion forgettable moments, be sure to follow these common sense tips:

  • Do get the 60’s and 70’s involved in your wardrobe plan. Big pants with cuffs and oxfords are lovely and perfect as transitional season wear.
  • Wear bright and bold colors that fairly shout, I am red, I am pink, I am orange!
  • Accessories should be big and bold. Large, two toned bracelets or several small bracelets worn on your wrist are what’s hot this spring and summer.
  • Wear bright and beautiful florals made of ribbon, velvet, and brocade.
  • Mash it up. Mix prints and florals and checks for a fun look. Wear a springy shirt underneath a colorful cardigan.
  • Knee socks and oxfords can pair up with shorts keeping your legs warm on nearly frosty spring mornings.
  • Go ahead and use springtime makeup and colors.
  • Fashionistas say wear only underwear under your lacy top or dress. Don’t be tempted to follow suit.
  • Ditch that big winter bag and find something bright and colorful to tote your things around.
  • Put away your black commuter or khaki trench coat and don a brightly colored spring coat.
  • Do not wear flip flops, even if it will by 75 degrees by noon.
  • Do wear brightly colored, opened toed pumps and sandals.
  • Don’t mix winter and summer accessories or outerwear.

Follow these tips for spring transitional dressing and you will be singing like the birds of spring.
