Managing Your Muffin Top

Okay, so let’s lay it all out on the table. Most women have a muffin top of sorts. You are feeling pretty good about yourself, and then, you put on a pair of jeans. Out of nowhere, it appear–that dreaded avalanche rolling up and over your waistband. For some women it’s just a little and on others, it’s rather more; large or small, it’s there.

Draconian Measures

The easiest way to rid yourself of a muffin top is to wear dresses all of the time. Just kidding. Supportive undergarments lost face in the early 60’s but are making a much needed comeback. Gone are corsets and girdles–new figure firming garments are airy, light, and almost invisible. Tell the truth; you have looked with pity upon the poor girls and women who don ultra thin t shirts that reveal too much about the state of their muffin top to all. Figure firming or supportive camisoles, shorts, and full body slips allow you to wear your jeans and t shirt, too.

Common Sense

If you are prone to a muffin top, refrain from buying form fitting tops made of thin or clingy materials. Wear a shirt or buy t shirts that are loose and of a more substantial weight. Buy jeans that fit. A higher waist band is necessary if you want skinny jeans. Still have to have those low cut jeans? Buy a larger size, finding a fit that does not force muffin top formation.  Make a rule for yourself; no clingy knits.

Looking to the Future

The best cure is a challenge for us all; we need to get fit and firm. Take an honest look at your diet and activity level. Often, implementing a few small changes can make a huge difference in our appearance. Cut portions and get moving. Take just 10 minutes a day to firm up soft spots. Take good care of yourself.

Today is the best day to start working on a healthy new you. In the meantime, dress to minimize the appearance of your muffin top.
